Patrick Howlett often translates his chosen subjects into paint through the screen of the digital. With the unitholder series of digital prints Howlett reveals the complex digital negotiations contained within his enigmatic paintings which are the result of a long process of transformations of images and text. This back and forth between representation and abstraction within both analogue and digital space often results in work that seems to obfuscate a certain position of meaning while elaborating another.
