Malik McKoy (b. 1995) works with both painting and computer generated 3D visuals. Straddling the line between analog and digital, McKoy attempts to create a visual world that lives across both practices. The subject matter of the work is a reflection of the banal qualities of where he is currently based, translated through a vibrant and playful lens. McKoy is currently pursuing an MFA at Concordia University, and holds a BFA from OCAD University having also completed the Game Art & Animation program from Seneca College. He has exhibited at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery; Oshawa; Trinity Square Video, Toronto; Xpace Cultural Centre, Toronto; and InterAccess, Toronto. He has public artworks installed across the Greater Toronto Area including Pickering and Vaughan. He was accepted into The Power Plant’s 2022-2023 RBC Emerging Artist Network.
